From Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace at UC San Diego statement on the cancellation of the Sun God Festival: "Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace at UC San Diego unequivocally reject the premise of the statement released by the campus administration announcing the cancellation of Sun God festival. The administration clearly names our peaceful demonstration against Israel's genocide as the ultimate reason for canceling Sun God. While the administration states they did this in the guise of 'security limitations,' we know very well that the school has the funds to facilitate security for the festival... SJP and JVP remain firm in our stance that there can be no business as usual in the midst of a genocide. The administration's decision was clearly not made with the student body's best interest in mind, rather, it was made with the intention of creating division among fellow students in the hopes of shutting down our demonstration. We will not let this cheap attempt to sow division among each other distract from the nationwide call to action in support of Palestinian liberation and an end to this genocide."
